Great Sankey High School, Guitar and Bass tutor. Teaching the ‘Rockshool’ Grading Curriculum 1-8.
Sharing his extensive experience, working in all types of musical situations.
Coach/Advisor to Bands. Involving the bringing together of pupils to form bands through their school life, focusing/ directing and giving pupils the freedom of creativity.
Explaining and showing the use of theoretic and the practical uses of music notation as an aid to simplify the whole concept of painting with sound.
Going into the classrooms working along side the Music Staff, Andy has the ability to relate ideas to children from all different backgrounds.
Getting the children to play strong musical ideas from the beginning, encouraging understanding and clarity to the rules of the fun game which is playing music.
This is largely to pupils who might not normally develop an interest without this concept being explained.
2010
In conjunction with friend Guy Cowen, Andy organised a school music trip to spend the day with the band ‘Razorlight’.
Pupils spent a day at The Manchester Apollo watching the crew and band setting up a show.
Here the pupils had explainations and demonstrations first hand, sewing the seeds of ambition and understanding.
2008-2010
Worked for Warrington Borough Council as a band coach/mentor for Bands from all schools in the Warrington area, who where participating in the annual Rock Festival, held at The Parr Hall in Warrington.
Andy visited all the bands in their schools focusing and organising their creative talents.
2005 and in 2010
was instrumental in the setting up and running of summer schools in Halton High School and Birchwood High School.
